Introduction to Cohousing

March 22 All day

[Exact time TBC – afternoon/evening]

At Sydney Cohousing, we believe our current housing system is not working for the majority of people, or for our planet, and we know there are better ways to live.

Cohousing is a way of living in self-governing, intentional communities with our neighbours. Before houses were investment assets, our ancestors lived in small clans and villages. We want to recreate aspects of village life in a modern setting, by creating housing that is affordable, sustainable, inclusive and accessible. The modern Cohousing movement began in Europe, but it has inspired communities across the world to live better together.

Join us for an afternoon of learning, snacks, and chats. In this talk with Q&A, you’ll learn:

  • What is Cohousing?
  • Where did it come from?
  • Pathways: how can we create Cohousing in Sydney?
  • And, why would we want to!?

We’ll also be sharing about some of Sydney Cohousing’s activities and plans for 2026.

Sydney Cohousing is an incorporated association that promotes the creation of community-led housing projects all across Sydney.
