Sydney Cohousing is an incorporated association that promotes cohousing in Sydney.
Our mission
We believe co-housing is a great solution to many challenges our society faces today:
- By living in a community we will have strong connections with others and be part of a resilient and adaptable network of people.
- By sharing our knowledge and resources we can collaborate and co-operate in new ways to create new notions of neighbourhood.
- By being deliberate about reducing our environmental footprint we can think creatively about how we reuse energy and resources at the micro level.
Sydney Cohousing exists to help establish cohousing communities in the Sydney area. We are a community where people can come together, and we promote cohousing through events, publications, and advocacy.

Why are we an incorporated association?
Sydney Cohousing Incorporated (SCI) has its own legal identity separate from its members, which gives protection to members in legal transactions.
We incorporated in February 2021 because this structure allows us to operate a bit like a company in NSW, although we are a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers.
