Cohousing is a community-led housing paradigm in which intentional, self-governing communities live together. Usually, this means developments of private dwellings with shared communal spaces.

What is the Co‑operative Housing Model?

Co‑operative housing is a way of living where residents work together to create stable, affordable, and supportive communities. Co‑ops are common around the world, and in some cities they make up a large share of all housing. In Australia, more than 8,000 people already live in housing co‑operatives, and the number is growing.

Sydney Cohousing code of conduct

Sydney Cohousing aims to be a diverse community bringing together across many different divides to live more collaboratively and sustainably.

Diversity is one of our huge strengths, but it can also lead to communication issues and unhappiness. To that end, we have a few ground rules that we ask people to adhere to. This code applies to all members of the community equally, no matter their position or length of involvement.

Cohousing

Cohousing is a resident-led approach to living in self-governing communities with our neighbours. Its six principles are:

	* Participatory process
	* Neighbourhood design
	* Common facilities

ABC Big Ideas: No place like an (affordable) home (Jun 2023)

“Decades of policies designed to reward private ownership and rentals have created a market unlike any other, and today, house and rent prices have escalated beyond many people's means. It's certainly a far-cry from the Australia of the post-war period… even Menzies spent big on public housing.
